| | 2-(BROMOVINYL)TRIMETHYLSILANE Usage And Synthesis |
| Uses | 2-Bromovinyltrimethylsilane can be used as a pharmaceutical synthesis intermediate. | | Synthesis | HBr gas was drummed into a mixture of trimethylmethylsilylacetylene (20 g, 0.2 mol) and benzoyl peroxide (145 mg, 0.6 mmol, 0.3 mol%) cooled in an ice bath for 15 min (the reaction progress was monitored by 1HNMR). The reaction mixture was diluted with ether (50 mL) and washed carefully with saturated NaHCO3 (30 mL) followed by saturated NaCl (30 mL). The ether layer was dried with MgSO4. Filtration and evaporation gave a mixture of crude products containing mainly 2-bromovinyltrimethylsilane (27.4 g, 75% yield) as a colorless liquid. |
