| Synthesis | General procedure for the synthesis of 3-amino-N-methylbenzamide from N-methyl-3-nitrobenzamide: A mixture of N-methyl-3-nitrobenzamide (2.47 g, 13.71 mmol) with 10% Pd/C catalyst (0.5 g) in methanol (50 mL) was subjected to hydrogenation at room temperature and atmospheric pressure overnight. Upon completion of the reaction, the mixture was filtered through a diatomaceous earth pad and the filtrate was subsequently concentrated.
