| Synthesis | GENERAL METHOD: A mixture of 1,4-benzodioxane (0.5 mmol), iodine pentoxide (334 mg, 1.0 mmol) and potassium bromide (148 mg, 1.25 mmol) was dissolved in 2 mL of water. The reaction was stirred at room temperature until completion. Upon completion of the reaction, the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate and the extract was subsequently concentrated under reduced pressure.
