Cyazofamid is commercially produced through a multi-step chemical synthesis. One common method involves the reaction of 4-chloro-2-cyano-N,N-dimethyl-5-(4'-methylphenyl)-1H-imidazole-1-sulfonamide with N,N-dimethylaminosulfonyl chloride in the presence of potassium carbonate and ethyl acetate under reflux conditions for several hours. After cooling, water is added, and the mixture is stirred and filtered. The resulting solid is then recrystallised from ethyl acetate to yield cyazofamid.
