CYAZOFAMID Chemical Properties,Uses,Production
Description
Cyazofamid is a foliar fungicide. It has a low aqueous solubility, is unlikely to leach to groundwater and is volatile. It is not persistent in soils or aquatic systems. Whilst it has a low mammalian toxicity there is some concern regarding its potential for bioaccumulation. It is a skin and eye irritant. It is moderately toxic to birds, most aquatic organisms, honeybees and earthworms.
Chemical Properties
Pale yellow, odorless powdery solid, mp 152.7℃, vapor pressure <1.33×10-5 Pa, solubility in water at 20℃ is 0.121 μg/mL (pH=5), and the partition coefficient is 3.2 (25℃).

Cyazofamid is a imidazole fungicide for use on food crops.
Definition
ChEBI: A member of the class of imidazoles carrying dimethylsulfamyl, cyano, chloro and 4-tolyl substituents at positions 1, 2, 4 and 5 respectively. A fungicide used mainly for controlling Oomycete and Plasmodiophora diseases on potatoe and tomatoes. It is a skin and eye irritant and is moderately toxic to birds, most aquatic organisms, honeybees and earthworms.
Production Methods
Cyazofamid is commercially produced through a multi-step chemical synthesis. One common method involves the reaction of 4-chloro-2-cyano-N,N-dimethyl-5-(4'-methylphenyl)-1H-imidazole-1-sulfonamide with N,N-dimethylaminosulfonyl chloride in the presence of potassium carbonate and ethyl acetate under reflux conditions for several hours. After cooling, water is added, and the mixture is stirred and filtered. The resulting solid is then recrystallised from ethyl acetate to yield cyazofamid.
