4-Azido-1,8-naphthalenedicarboxylic anhydride (CAS:1262149-88-1, 1.8 g, 7.6 mmol) was used as a raw material and dissolved in 100 mL of acetonitrile. Subsequently, sodium sulfide (6.5 g, 41 mmol) was added to the solution. The reaction mixture was heated to 60 °C and maintained at this temperature for 10 hours. After completion of the reaction, the mixture was cooled to room temperature and then slowly poured into ice water. The precipitate was collected by filtration and dried under vacuum to afford the target product 4-amino-1,8-naphthalenedicarboxylic anhydride as a yellow solid (1.3 g) in 80% yield.
