Steps:
1.1. Chlorination of bromo-fluoro-substituted-benzoic acids
General procedure: To 2-bromo-5-fluorobenzoic acid 8p (500 mg, 2.28 mmol) was added thionyl chloride (207 μL, 2.85 mmol). The mixture was heated for 1.5 h at 100 °C (an additional 1 mL of SOCl2 was added after 20 min). The thionyl chloride was evaporated and the product, 1.1.1. 2-bromo-5-fluorobenzoyl chloride (2p), was used without further purification.
