2-(Methylthio)ethylamine Chemical Properties, Uses, Production
Synthesis
Reports on the synthesis of thioetheramines are scarce. Literature reports the synthesis of thioetheramines by reacting ethyl bromide with metallic sodium in an ethanol solvent with hexamethylene mercaptan. However, the distillation temperature during separation and purification is as high as 200-220℃, the reaction is vigorous, difficult to control, and costly. The synthetic principle is as follows: ethyl bromide hydrochloride reacts with triethylamine in a hexanol solvent to produce chloroethylamine. Hexamethylene mercaptan reacts with sodium hydride in an ethylene glycol diethyl ether solvent to obtain sodium hexamethylene mercaptan. Sodium hexamethylene mercaptan reacts with 2-chloroethylamine to synthesize thioetheramines, with disulfides as the main byproduct. This paper uses ethylene glycol diethyl ether as a solvent and iodomethane, sodium hydride, and aminoethanethiol as raw materials to synthesize thioetheramines. The reaction conditions are mild, the process is simple, easy to operate, and the cost is low. The synthetic reaction formula for 2-(METHYLTHIO)ETHYLAMINE is shown in the figure below:
