| | salvigenin Usage And Synthesis |
| Uses | Salvigenin is a neuroprotective agent used in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases acting through oxidative stress on cells. | | Definition | ChEBI: Salvigenin is a trimethoxyflavone that is scutellarein in which the hydroxy groups at positions 4', 6, and 7 are replaced by methoxy groups. It has a role as an autophagy inducer, an apoptosis inhibitor, an antilipemic drug, an immunomodulator, an antineoplastic agent, a neuroprotective agent, a hypoglycemic agent and a plant metabolite. It is a trimethoxyflavone and a monohydroxyflavone. It is functionally related to a scutellarein. | | in vivo | Salvigenin (0-9.68 μg/mouse/day; i.p.; 4 or 12 days) shows antitumor and immunomodulatory effects on tumor bearing mice[2]. | Animal Model: | MCF-7 cell bearing inbred female Balb/c mice, aged from six to eight weeks[2] | | Dosage: | 3.65, 5.85 and 9.68 μg/mouse/day for four days or 12 days | | Administration: | Intraperitoneal injection | | Result: | Showed a significant increase in DTH response in a dose-dependent manner. Significantly decreased the rate of tumor growth, increased lymphocyte proliferation index, increased the level of IFN-γ and decreased IL-4 production. Exhibited a significant decrease of the splenic CD4+CD25+Foxp3+ T lymphocytes. |
