Uses

(Fmoc-Phe-OH) L-Phenylalanine (P319415) derivative, used in the preparation of peptides and deltorphin derivatives. A potential inhibitor of IGF-I and IGF-Binding Protein-5 complex.

General Description

Fmoc-Phe-OH is highly hydrophobic and dissolves easily in DMF and NMP. A photoresponsive hydrogel can be easily created by co-assembling Fmoc-Phe-OH and Azp without the need for chemical synthesis.

Synthesis

Fmoc-L-phenylalanine is obtained via fragment coupling and modification in solid-phase peptide synthesis. The process involves coupling amino acids or dipeptides in solution or on a solid support using coupling agents like HCTU and DIEA, hydrogenolytic deprotection using palladium on carbon, cleavage of the peptide from the support using LiOHH2O, and a final coupling reaction of Fmoc-amino acid to the support using N,N-diisopropylcarbodiimide and DMAP. Subsequent precipitation and centrifugation yield the target product.
